Match of the Month

Jacob and Mitch Peterson

Congratulations to Jacob and Mitch for being September´s match of the month!

Jacob and Mitch have been matched for a year and a half and they have a great mentoring relationship. They have explored a lot of fun activities together – going to movies, skiing, watching a hockey game, having dinner together and going for bike rides.

One of Jacob and Mitch´s favorite things to do is woodworking projects and carving things out of wood. Something they are both looking forward in the future to is getting the opportunity to try out Mitch´s boat and enoy the water and warm weather. Jacob´s mom says "Mitch is a wonderful mentor; he has a great relationship with Jacob. We are lucky to have him in Jacob´s lilfe."

Thank you Jacob and Mitch for your wonderful friendship and commitment to each other!

Five Points

Five Points is an academic mentoring program working with students in grades K–12. We match volunteers with students to assist them academically at a school site or local community center. This can be either during school hours or in an after–school program. The primary goal of Five Points is to support the relationship between the student and volunteer. An academic mentor may expect to help with homework, aid with specific subject areas, and participate in educational games and activities with the youth.

If you would like to tutor your existing mentee in school, know of someone who would be interested in becoming an academic mentor, or are a parent of a youth that could benefit from academic help, please contact Jeramy Katchuba at 722–4745, ext. 161 or jkatchuba@duluthymca.org.
