What Are Other Benefits of Being Enrolled In Mentor Duluth?

Children and youth enrolled in Mentor Duluth often have to wait for us to find an appropriate mentor for them. Sometimes the wait can be a year or more. While your child is waiting, however, there are several benefits and ways to stay involved in the program.

Mentor Duluth Activities and Opportunities

Mentor Duluth frequently hosts free activities for children waiting for mentors. Mentor Duluth will provide transportation for youth to and from the activity. Once your child is matched, (s)he can also participate in match activities with his/her mentor. These activities range from bowling to sailing, plays to sporting event tickets, arts and crafts projects and much more. Please refer to your monthly newsletter to find out what activities we are currently offering. Most of our activities have limited space and require advance sign up. To sign your child up for an activity, simply call 722-4745 ext. 120 or your Program Advocate.

Monthly Newsletter

Each month we send out a newsletter updating your family on Mentor Duluth news, announcements and activities. Please be sure to check out the newsletter each month so your child doesn’t miss out on anything!

YMCA Membership

All children and youth enrolled in the Mentor Duluth program also receive a free YMCA membership. Children under the age of 10 years old must be accompanied by an adult at all times at the YMCA, so parent(s) of children enrolled in Mentor Duluth that are less than 10 years old also receive a free membership which expires on the child’s 10th birthday.

Just stop by the front desk at the YMCA and let the staff person know that you are a member through the Mentor Duluth program and they will give you your membership card.

Program Advocate

Your family will be assigned a program advocate to assist you with any questions or concerns and to help make your experience with Mentor Duluth a positive one. Our goal is to provide a safe mentor for your child (mentors are screened and background checks are done on state criminal records and national sexual offender records). Additionally, we will do our best to provide support to both your family and your child’s mentor throughout their match. Please keep your Program Advocate up to date on any changes in your contact information (phone number, address, etc.) so we can best serve you. Feel free to contact your Program Advocate at any time if you feel we can be of assistance to you!
